Artist Statement

I am a printmaker who works mainly with screen printing and

relief carving techniques. I find inspiration from the Punk and

New wave bands from the 80’s. I admire their loud colors,

obnoxious patterns, and their in your face attitude. In my work, I

am bold and make an impression on the viewer through comedy

or my awkward charm. I create large, hand-carved linoleum and

MDF wood blocks that I then print on top of screen-printed

patterns or images. In the studio I’ll create a set color pallets

and play around with different variations until I see what is

working and what I can scrap. It’s all very intuitive, I don’t have a

plan when I start my process and that’s what I enjoy the most

about my work, having fun! Some topics I work with are politics

through a satire lens, vulnerability and my distaste for the

feeling and my personal perception of how I view myself and

how others see me.
